Top Ten Books on my Autumn 2019 TBR!

This post is basically an excuse to gush about all the amazing books coming out in the next couple of months! The new release game this year is STRONG, and I can’t wait to dive into all of this (and hopefully tackle some of my backlist too!)

wayward son

1. Wayward Son by Rainbow Rowell

I am SO READY for this! I cannot wait to hold this gorgeous book in my hands an devour it. I’m definitely a mood reader and I love atmosphere, so this is definitely the least Autumn-y book on this list, but I’m so excited that it’s top of the TBR anyway!

ninth house

2. Ninth House by Leigh Bardugo

I cannot express to you how badly I want to read this. It sounds so dark and twisted and cool, and I just can’t wait to spend some dark October evenings devouring this one.

the beautiful

3. The Beautiful by Renee Ahdieh

VAMPIRES! Need I say more? This sounds so dark and spooky and Halloween-y! I can’t wait to read it, the ARC of it has been sitting on my shelf for a while just calling to me…

girls of storm and shadow

4. Girls of Storm and Shadow by Natasha Ngan

After reading and loving Girls of Paper and Fire last year, I’ve been eagerly awaiting the sequel. This again, evokes dark cosy evenings getting stuck into the story. I’m really excited to see what comes next for Lei and Wren.

5. Into the Crooked Place by Alexandra Christo

Gah! Dark underground society, Six of Crows vibes, Allie Christo’s beautiful writing? I simply cannot wait to dive right into this world. I heard Allie read a passage from it about a year and a half ago, and it’s finally on it’s way!

sorcery of thorns

6. Sorcery of Thorns by Margaret Rogerson

I bought this one when it was released because of all the Instagram and booktube hype and I’ve still not got round to it, and I really need to! It sounds really cool and immersive – what more do you want than a YA fantasy set in a library?

capturing the devil

7. Capturing the Devil by Kerri Maniscalco

As much as I do not want this story to end, I am so excited for another Thomas and Audrey adventure and see them get their ending. I adore these characters so much and each book in the series has got better and better. Only a few more days to wait for this one now!

serpent and dove

8. Serpent and Dove by Shelby Mahurin

I have been told by EVERYONE that this one of the best debuts of the year. I very rarely preorder books by authors I’ve not read before, I usually wait for it to be released and to see what all my friends think of it. But, the early review hype has been absolutely real with this one and I must confess, I really want to read it and find out what everyone is talking about! So, preorder has been placed and I am VERY excited for it.

kingdom of souls

9. Kingdom of Souls by Rena Barron

Now, this is a bit of a wild card. This is supposed to be my next read, as I have an ARC that needs reviewing. However, many of my friends have NOT liked this one. It’s a shame because I’ve been so hyped for the concept, and I’m living for the success and support Rena is receiving as a debut POC author (seriously, we need more of this. Do not sleep on supporting POC in our community, let publishers know that diverse opportunities and books are what we want). People just don’t seem to be enjoying this one, and I’m teetering on the edge of slump so perhaps now is not the best time to pick it up. However, I will get to this this fall and let myself make my own mind up!

assassins blade

10. The Assassin’s Blade by Sarah J. Maas

This is the next book in my Throne of Glass read through that I need to tackle, but I do plan to try and finish this whole series before Winter is through. I’ve just read and absolutely LOVED the first two books and I just can’t wait to tear through the rest of the series (even if I need to be focusing on everything above!) It was around this time last year that I binged the ACOTAR series, so binging Sarah J. Maas books feels like a very Autumn/Winter-y thing to me.

Let me know what you’re super excited to read this Autumn!
